Formica-inspired design

 

Proof you can get inspiration from anywhere--here's a crocheted pillow cover that I designed after admiring retro-style formica samples.  The yarn is Jeans, from the Lion Brand company, a very soft and pretty yarn, one of my favorites.

Stockings were hung by the chimney with care...

When my 2-year-old nephew needed glasses, I got to work making a monkey for him--with glasses. (I couldn't leave out his brother, so he got one of his own.)

I'm pretty sure Colin likes it. He named him Elvis, and set him in a window so Elvis can watch him play outside.

Everybody could use a doll who looks like they do. Sometimes crochet is more than just crochet--it fills hearts--his AND mine! 

The pattern is my own "Cheeky Monkey" done in Lion Brand Jeans yarn, in colors classic and faded, with top stitch for the scarf. Make a stuffed animal for a child--or a grown-up--in your life, and bask in the joy.

Monster Hat!

Find a pattern to make a cute monster hat in the October 2022 issue of Crochet World Magazine.

The design is inspired by gargoyles; the black and marl yarn (Lion Brand Basic Stitch) simulates stone, and the bright colors (Lion Brand Bonbons cotton pack) are just for fun. What a sweet little guy wearing this playfully monstrous hat!

Coastal Grandma style!

I just discovered this was a thing--young people are appropriating the culture of "coastal grandmas," the style of women who are enjoying being casual and independent in amazing settings.
